How Diz Drivers Earn an Extra 3,000 SAR/Month

A worked example: a driver who makes Riyadh to Jeddah most weekends anyway, and how the three empty seats behind him turn into about 3,000 SAR a month.

The Diz team

Take a worked example, not a customer story. Call the driver Ahmed. He has driven the Riyadh to Jeddah road most weekends for six years. His family is in Jeddah, his work is in Riyadh, and the car makes the trip whether it is full or empty. Since he started posting that trip on Diz, the same 950 km he was already driving brings in about 3,000 SAR a month.

Nothing about his week changed. He leaves at the same hour, takes the same road, and stops at the same rest area for coffee. The only difference is that the three empty seats behind him now carry people who were going to Jeddah anyway.

The trip comes first, the income second

This is the part new drivers get backwards. They go looking for trips to earn from. Ahmed does the opposite. He posts the trip he is already making, at the time he was already leaving, and treats the seats as space the car happened to have spare.

A trip that already exists is easy to keep. A trip invented for the income is a trip you will cancel the first busy week, and every cancellation costs you riders who do not come back.

Four seats, one price, decided before anyone books

On Diz the driver sets a fixed price per seat, and riders see that price before they request anything. There is no surge, no meter, and no negotiation at the kerb. Ahmed posts four seats on the Riyadh to Jeddah run, a route where seats start at 175 SAR.

A rider requests one to four seats. Ahmed accepts, and only then is the rider's wallet charged, with 15% VAT added and shown at checkout. The number on the trip card and the number the rider pays are the same figure plus a tax line they can read.

The shift in thinking is the whole trick. There is no full car or empty car any more. There are four seats, and each one is a fixed amount. Two seats cover the fuel. Four seats are the whole weekend.

He chooses his riders

Accepting is a decision, not a formality. Every request shows the rider's profile and rating, and Ahmed reads both before he accepts. A rider with a record of being on time is worth more to him than a seat sold to somebody who will keep four people waiting at a petrol station on the ring road.

  • He accepts early requests first, because they leave him the rest of the week to fill the car.
  • He messages every rider in the app the day before, confirms the pickup point and repeats the departure time.
  • He declines a request he cannot serve instead of accepting it and cancelling later.
  • He keeps the car clean and the boot half empty, because luggage is what riders worry about on a nine hour road.

His rating is the asset

Riders rate the driver after every trip, and that rating sits on the trip card next to the price. Two riders comparing two trips on the same day at the same fare will take the better record. Ahmed treats his rating the way a shopkeeper treats the front window.

What moves a rating is dull and repeatable: leave when you said you would leave, answer chat messages, do not move the pickup point at the last minute, and drive the way you would with your own family in the car. The same habits keep the WASL verification and the licence and vehicle checks uncomplicated.

The money lands in the wallet

Earnings from each trip go into his in-app wallet after the trip, and the driver dashboard shows what each trip made. There is no cash to count at a rest stop and no argument about change. He withdraws when it suits him.

Add four seats across the weekends of a month and you reach the 3,000 SAR he quotes. We want to be clear that this is his figure on his route, not a promise the app makes. A driver on a shorter corridor, Riyadh to Dammam at about 400 km, will see something else entirely.

If you want to try it

  1. Sign up as a driver and clear the WASL verification along with the licence and vehicle checks.
  2. Post the next intercity trip you are already making, with the real departure time.
  3. Set the price per seat and open only the seats you actually want to sell.
  4. Answer requests quickly, confirm the pickup point in chat, and leave on time.

That is the whole method. The road is the same length either way.
